Hakainde Hichilema has said having Zesco power is like being found in possession of some illegal substance in broad daylight.
UPND leader stated on his Facebook post on Tuesday that it “looks like it is easier to count the hours of power than load shedding.”
And commenting on a story quoting Vice-President Inonge Wina on Monday claiming that government cancelled presidential jet purchase due to austerity measures, Hichilema said it was the Russians who cancelled the purchase because the PF could not raise the full payment.
“Oh please, can we for once tell the truth to our citizens. It’s the Russians who cancelled the purchase of the second Presidential jet because the PF could not raise the full payment. Imagine the wickedness of wanting two state of the art Presidential jets amidst ongoing economic sabotage?” Hichilema said.
The opposition leader demanded that the country should be informed on what happened to the payments that had already been made adding that a refund was needed to get started with the construction of solar power plants to alleviate current electricity load-shedding.
