GE Renewable Energy to provide wind turbines for Potegowo wind project

GE Renewable Energy has secured a contract from Potegowo Mashav to supply 81 onshore wind turbines for the 220MW Potegowo wind project in Slupsk County, Northern Poland. The wind farm is expected to eliminate 480,000t of carbon emissions per year.

Under the terms of the contract, 81 of GE’s 2MW onshore wind turbines will power the Potegowo wind project.

The project will comprise four clusters, including the five-turbine Biecino, where hardware is currently being installed. A further 13 turbines will feature at Karzcino and Wrzescie, 20 at Gluszynko and 43 at Malechowo.

In addition to wind turbines, GE will provide a five-year full-service agreement (FSA), under which it will offer data-driven insights, expert recommendations, and advanced field services. GE will manufacture all the turbines at its site in Salzbergen, Germany.

With existing 580MW installed capacity, GE Renewable Energy will increase its installed base to 800MW in the country once the project is commissioned.

The Potegowo wind farm is backed by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is the first renewables investment in Poland in the past three years.
