JSC Nenskra Hydro, the company overseeing the Nenskra Hydro Power Project, has started the implementation of three large social projects in Svaneti. Representatives of the company will hold meetings with the population of the villages of Chuberi and Nakra of the Mestia municipality on 11-12 February.
These projects will be implemented in close cooperation with Mestia municipality on the basis of the assessment of the needs of local residents and encompasses such areas as helping in the registration of existing land plots in the actual ownership of the population, access to mechanization and vocational training.
“The investor's goal is to change the lives of population of Chuberi and Nakra for better and create more opportunities for professional and economic development. Our social strategy is focused on sustainable and harmonious development of the region. When elaborating new projects, we consider the needs of the local population as well as the specificity and potential of the region,” says Nenskra Hydro’s Operations Management Director, Teimuraz Kopadze.
Preparatory works are currently underway for the construction of the Nenskra HPP in Chuberi village.
About the Nenskra HPP Project: JSC Nenksra Hydro, the Nenskra HPP Project Company, was established in 2015 as a result of cooperation between K-water and JSC Partnership Fund. The company aims to construct the High-Dam Nenskra Hydropower Plant in the Nenskra and Nakra river valleys in Mestia Municipality. The 280 MW Nenskra Hydropower Plant will generate approximately 1’200.00 GWh of electricity annually. Generated electricity will be fully consumed by the local market.
