Jalingo – President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has stated that completing the Mambilla Hydro Electricity project remained his priority if he is re-elected president. Buhari aid this in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State, on Thursday during the APC presidential rally.
While receiving supporters of the party at the capacity-filled Jolly Nyame Stadium, the APC presidential disclosed that the Mambilla Hydro Electricity project was his priority and promised to complete it if elected. The president further stated that electricity and roads were necessary in order for people to do their jobs.
President Buhari, who addressed the crowd in Hausa language, emphasised that his administration came with an agenda to tackle insecurity, poor economy and to fight corruption. According to him, Boko Haram had held 17 council areas before his administration came on board and that they were decimated and only use suicide bombers.
The president told the crowd that anyone who oppressed them was neither a Christian nor Muslim, promising the people that the government would provide them with fertilisers and wishes them a fruitful raining season.
Earlier on, the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole, remarked that it was “on integrity and performance that this election will be determined”. He promised that APC would take over Taraba and called on the people to vote for the party.
Highlight of the occasion was the reception of some notable members of the PDP who had decamped to the APC and were received at the venue of the event.
They include former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Darius Ishaku, Emmanuel Bello, former cabinet member in Ishaku’s government, Abba Akawu Zagga, Ardo Yusuf, Henry Shawulu and Danladi Shehu.
