Enel Green Power North America (EGPNA) has announced the commissioning of three new wind farms.
It has commenced operations of its 50MW expanded High Lonesome wind farm in Texas’s Upton and Crockett counties.
By starting the wind farm operations, the company has increased the group’s operational wind portfolio to 500MW.
Additionally, the company has also integrated its two other wind facilities including the 105MW Riverview and 29.4MW Castle Rock Ridge II located in Canada to the grid.
Enel Green Power CEO Antonio Cammisecra said: “The commissioning of these three new wind farms is further evidence that Enel remains committed to growing its renewable portfolio worldwide.
“This commitment has also been underscored by the completion of over 400 MW of renewable plants worldwide in the first quarter of the year, allowing renewables to greatly exceed conventional generation in our portfolio both in terms of capacity and production.
“While prioritising health and safety, looking ahead we will continue generating new sustainable value through our emission-free energy across the globe, in accordance with the group’s strategic plan.”
How optimistic are you about your company’s growth prospects?
For developing the 500MW High Lonesome wind farm in Texas, the company is said to have invested nearly $720m.
Construction of its Castle Rock Ridge II and Riverview wind facilities have seen an investment of more than CAD210m ($149m).
The company noted that its 500MW High Lonesome facility has the capacity to generate about 1.9TWh annually while avoiding carbon emissions of more than 1.2 million tonnes annually.
The 50MW expanded project also has a 12-year renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA) with food and beverage company Danone North America.
Under two 20-year Renewable Energy Support Agreements (RESA), the Castle Rock Ridge II and Riverview wind farms will provide clean power and renewable energy credits to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO).
The two wind farms, located in the town of Pincher Creek, will have the capacity to generate around 493GWh clean energy annually while avoiding nearly 335,500 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
